Monalisa Pal is a Senior Research Fellow at Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, India. She has received her B.Tech degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) from Netaji Subhash Engineering College under West Bengal University of Technology and M.E. degree in

Electronics and Tele-Communication Engineering (ETCE) from Jadavpur University. She has done her schooling under Central Board of Secondary Education. She is currently pursuing her research on evolutionary computation algorithms in Machine Intelligence Unit at ISI under the supervision of Prof. Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay.

Her research area includes brain-computer interfacing and human-computer interaction for robotics and rehabilitation, gesture recognition for healthcare, energy management for smart buildings and evolutionary optimization algorithms. She has published extensively on internationally reputed journals and conferences on bio-medical, computational intelligence, and image analysis.
